André Dubois, Designer

1936 – 2009

This web site is dedicated to my late father, André Dubois, who I Consider to be one of the greatest designers of his generation. André Dubois distinguished career spanned over more than four decades.

André Dubois first important mandate came from Gaz Métropolitain Inc. and was followed by mandates from several large organizations; namely, Bell Canada, Hydro Québec, Federal Development Bank, Air Canada, Mutual Life, Prudential and Bank of Tokyo, to name a few…

André Dubois was one of the first draftsmen to lay the foundation for the standards of the profession; its statues, its regulations and its code of ethics. His invaluable contributions did not go unnoticed. In 1992, he was awarded the title of “IDC Fellow” and in 2001 he was Honorary Member by the Interior Decorators Society of Quebec.

André Dubois also carried the title of Chairman for the Committee of Education, a body within the National Design Council. A large part of is career was devoted to education. My father was a passionate and dedicated teacher. He always strived to establish a sense of trust between himself and is students; the same trust he always managed to develop between himself and his clients.

André Dubois originated the concept of design to the general public and shared his expertise with the young designers in is class. My father was recognized and respected by his students for his personalized teaching technique and his passion for the art, evidence by the many tributes received from his students at his funeral.

His accomplishments were many but his influence has gone way beyond his achievements.
